THE WOODSTOCK FANSHAWE YOUTH SINGERS

Choir Poster 2 (1)

SEPTEMBER 2015 to April 2016

On behalf of the Woodstock Fanshawe Singers, I would again like to invite Oxford area students with some singing experience to be a part of the Woodstock Fanshawe Youth Singers, formerly known as the Honour Choir. Choir members will be rehearsing under the direction of Sammy Hayes and accompanist Carol Harrison.

Singers in grades four to nine are eligible for the Youth Singers.

Auditions are necessary for new choir members, but not for returning choir members. Auditions will take place in June, September and December.

The choir was created in honour of the five year anniversary of the Kaleid Choral Festival in May of 2010. We are now entering our sixth season. This year, the WFYS will continue to share the joy of choral singing with local youth. We will offer a unique opportunity for growth and friendship with other students who love to sing. In rehearsals, we will become a team through our work on vocal technique, ear training and the blending of all of our voices into one voice as a choir!

Membership in the WFYS is free thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, the Woodstock Fanshawe Singers.

The rehearsals will take place each week over the Fall, Winter and Spring terms until the end of April. Our goal this year will be to sing as guests of the Woodstock Fanshawe Singers at their Christmas and Spring Concerts, to sing at several community events and to enter the Woodstock Rotary Music Festival.

Please read this over carefully before asking for an audition. All singers are expected to perform at all concerts.
